Enrica Haelen has been a birth and postpartum doula for 9 years and a newly Registered Nurse. A former art gallery director in NYC, Enrica was called to birth work for many years, but it wasn’t until the birth of her son that she wholeheartedly took the leap of faith to be a doula. Enrica pulls from her strong intuition and her personal experience to support and guide all birthing people throughout their pregnancy and birth.

Her goal as a doula is to create a safe, calm and nurturing environment; provide physical and emotional support; offer gentle and encouraging words; help advocate for her clients. She uses massage, acupressure, and guided breathing as tools. It is important to her to inform birthing people of their choices and rights, help them feel empowered, and encourage them to discover their own rewarding, healing birth and postpartum experience. One way in particular she can do this is by providing robust prenatal and postpartum care. Enrica is so grateful for this work and above all is constantly inspired and moved by the many ways we birth and the magic of the human body and human connection.

Enrica supports all individuals: women, female-identifying, trans, intersex, and gender non-conforming birthing people prenatally, through childbirth, and postpartum. Enrica is an advocate for the Down syndrome and disabled community. She lives in the Hudson Valley with her son, daughter, and husband, Jacob.
