“She was an advocate for me with the hospital and a cheerleader when I needed her to be..."
Enrica was my doula for my first pregnancy and she was amazing in every way. She took the time to really get to know me, my pregnancy journey, my expectations for the birth, my relationship with my OB, and helped me map out and think through my preferences. She was so supportive, engaged, and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. She was with me while I labored at home and then joined us at the hospital once we were placed in a labor/delivery room. I just had Enrica and my husband there through the birth, and she provided much needed relief to my husband, so he could take a break during the labor. She was an advocate for me with the hospital and a cheerleader when I needed her to be. She also took the best post-birth family picture in the hospital that we have! (Not something I thought of but super important!) And she was a great support to me after the birth during the post-birth recovery period and as I navigated breastfeeding challenges. She has a beautiful spirit and has just the kind of energy I wanted around me during the most important day of my life!

"Her soothing voice and emotional support were exactly what I needed to make it through. It was like she could read my mind...”
I have known Enrica for 15+ years and she has always been a loving, caring, and nurturing person. When she told me she was becoming a doula, I immediately thought it was a natural fit for her. I soon became pregnant with my second child and knew I had to use her for my natural birth. We had spoken before my labor about what I needed from her, which was mostly support and calming affirmations, my dos and don'ts of how I wanted my labor to go and a "safe" word (which there wasn't because I was going to go through this labor without intervention). From the moment she met us at the hospital she was right on point. She walked into our room, as I was in the delivery room because I progress very quickly, grabbed my hips and helped me sway and om through contractions. Her soothing voice and emotional support were exactly what I needed to make it through. It was like she could read my mind. I can not recommend Enrica's services enough. If I have another baby she will most definitely be there.

“She was also super supportive and encouraging when I made the final difficult decision to receive an epidural…"
Enrica was my doula for the birth of our first baby girl! I knew from the beginning that I wanted an extra set of hands at my birth to help me have a more natural birth with as few interventions as possible. Also, having lost my mom at a fairly young age, I really wanted to ensure I had a calming female presence to help me on the day of my daughter's arrival.
My husband Eddie and I chose Enrica to be my doula because she not only had experience in the type of birth I wanted (as few interventions as possible), but also had an incredibly calming presence, which I need would help both me and my husband's anxieties about the birth of our first child. I am not exaggerating when I say that Enrica was worth her weight in gold and her presence is probably the main reason I was able to achieve my goal of avoiding a c-section. She reassured me and kept me focused and calm when things didn't go according to my detailed plans (which often happens in labor!), particularly when I needed to be induced with pitocin due to high blood pressure. My labor was long (36 hours!!) and she used massage as well as her knowledge of various birthing positions to really control my pain naturally for the majority of the labor. She was also super supportive and encouraging when I made the final difficult decision to receive an epidural because the pitocin had made my contractions unbearable. She also kept my spirts up (and frankly my husband's, too) and helped me on multiple occasions to not give up when I was pushing for three solid hours. Finally, she helped keep my husband calm - especially when our baby's heart rate plummeted - and her support of me allowed him to have some much needed rest during our long labor.
After the labor my husband and I both agreed that our birth experience - which had a quite a few unexpected twists and turns, as it often does - would not have been nearly as positive without Enrica's calming presence and knowledge. She will definitely be our first call to reserve her as our doula for our next child!

"She also had a bag of tricks such as peppermint oil, ice packs and Gatorade (who would have thought?) that helped me have the natural birth that was so important to me...”
Enrica was an amazing Doula to us during the birth of our son Arlo in August 2016. I was convinced I would be fine going it alone, but am over the moon that my husband convinced me to use a doula, and that we found Enrica through the incredible network at Carriage House in Brooklyn NYC. It was even more convenient that she lived a few blocks away from us in Clinton Hill. We gave birth at the birthing center at New York Presbyterian in Lower Manhattan, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Enrica was integral to it going smoothly and showed how incredibly supportive and sweet natured she was throughout. She also had a bag of tricks such as peppermint oil, ice packs and Gatorade (who would have thought?) that helped me have the natural birth that was so important to me. We are currently planning a move to California, otherwise I would have absolutely no hesitation in using her again for baby number two. I really encourage using a doula for you, and also for your partner, you won’t regret it!
